Here’s a look at the reinforcements we made to Pookie’s cage. Sometimes we call her the Hamsternator because she’s so strong and gets out of everything.
The first cage is a smaller 2-level cage with a bungee cord holding the water bottle in place. Sometimes Pookie knocks the water bottle to the floor and then chews the hole bigger.
The main cage has padlock on the door because she has figured out how to open it without any problem. We have a bungee over top because she can life the top of the cage off of the wire sides and escape that way.
And we have tape on the bed area because she has learned to open that.
Before we added the second cage we used to have a small room with a dome top. She had figured out how to twist the top open on that too.
Now she is trained to go to the door on the smaller cage when she wants to come out and play.
This hamster is quite an escape artist.
